THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

Welcome to the annual WV Great Beginnings Infant/Toddler Conference October 22-24, 2026 at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Morgantown. All sessions and presenters will be in person. Anyone working with the infant/toddler age group is welcome to attend including Child Care providers, Early Head Start, WV Birth to Three, WV Infant/Toddler Mental Health Association members, and WV Home Visitation Program. A variety of sessions are offered for the newest of providers to the more seasoned providers. Many sessions may be of particular interest to directors and administrators. All participants will benefit from the conference and you are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to recharge your passion for infants and toddlers.

** Please practice professionalism while attending sessions by arriving on time, remaining in the sessions for the full duration, limiting distractions, avoiding sidebar conversations, and silencing any devices. Everyone is there to sharpen their skills and understanding of this age which can only be done when we are respectful to others and the speakers.**

FULL CONFERENCE ATTENDENCE BY A CENTER REPRESENTATIVE IS REQUIRED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY RESOURCES AVAILABLE. ADDITIONAL RESOURCE INFORMATION COMING SOON.

In order to for a center to receive resources at the conclusion of Great Beginnings 2026, a representative from that Center MUST be present each day of the conference, no exceptions. Individuals must have their certificates stamped each session to be eligible for credit . To receive resources for conference attendance your center must have one representative present every day of the conference. For example: Director on Thursday, staff on Friday, staff on Saturday. If there is a representative present all three days, you will receive resources. Not all staff are required to be present every day.

WV STARS credit will be available. Individuals MUST sign in AND out of each session for credit. No credit will be awarded after November 10, 2026.

When checking-in to any Marriott property, you will be asked to provide a card at check-in for "incidentals", in addition to the charge for your stay. This incidentals charge is $50 per night. This is put as a hold on your card to cover any room charges you may make during your stay. If you do not charge anything to your room, this hold will fall off within 3-10 business days (depending on your bank). When checking in, if you are able, we do recommend you use a credit card as the holds typically fall off earlier on a credit card versus a debit card.

Please make SURE to create and keep your log in and password information. This will be essential for your access to your conference itinerary.

Grounded in responsive caregiving and experiences, the content will illustrate how everyday interactions — talking, exploring, playing, and sharing books—build a child's cognitive, emotional, and physical foundation. Additionally, it will highlight the essential role of caregiver self-care, demonstrating that a calm, supportive caregiver is vital for creating the secure environment young children need to thrive and grow.

You see your classroom every day. What do you see when you look at it through an evaluator’s eyes? Explore the health, safety, and environmental details that can be easy to overlook in the everyday classroom. Using practical strategies, attendees will learn to spot environmental blind spots, see the classroom from a child’s perspective, and support staff in creating spaces where children can safely learn, explore, and thrive.
