This 2 hour workshop on medical illustration will introduce participants to techniques for drawing cleft anatomy and cleft procedures to help educate their patients, students, and colleagues. Heavy emphasis will be placed on using an iPad, an iPencil, and the Procreate app, which were used exclusively to create every illustration by David W Low, MD in Hamdan et al’s Interdisciplinary Cleft Care – Global Perspectives.

Course participants are very strongly encouraged to bring their own fully charged iPad (any size) and iPencil, and to download the Procreate app (about $10 US) ahead of time, to take full advantage of the workshop. The course director, Dr. Low, will also provide digital photos, drawings, and course notes which participants will be able to access prior to the workshop, to facilitate the interactive experience. Newly acquired skills can be immediately incorporated into one’s own practice.

Participants without an iPad may use pencil and paper, and course materials can still be accessed, but the full experience will not be possible.
