Presenter:  Michelle Smith

Description: This interactive workshop will walk participants through daily

academic routines and procedures and how these simple activities are connected to

an MTSS. Relationships and connections can be made by using Restorative

Practices. Participants will use this framework to develop their own practices to

build strong classroom and school environments.


Presenter: Michelle Smith, M.A.Ed., is the District PBIS and SEL Coordinator for

Buncombe County Schools. She supports the district in integrating social emotional

learning and trauma informed care within a multi-tiered system of support. Michelle

began her career in education as a classroom assistant before earning a Bachelor of

Science degree in Special Education from Mars Hill University and a Master’s

degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner Webb University. She has served as

an Exceptional Children’s teacher and as a district wide Behavior Specialist. She is a

trainer in Restorative Practices and the Community Resiliency Model.
