The 2023 CAPHLD 74th Annual Institute will be held in Santa Ana, October 16 – 18, 2023
Monday Oct. 16: Partner’s Day followed by Corporate Partner’s Reception and Exhibits
Tuesday Oct. 17: Symposium Day and Exhibits
Wednesday Oct. 18: CAPHLD Business Meeting
Wednesday Oct 18: Optional Post-Conference Workforce Assessment (1pm-5pm)
Meeting Type: In-person event, virtual option for presenters. Presentations will not be recorded.
Hotel Registration
A limited numbers of rooms are available so please make your reservations early to get the negotiated CAPHLD group rate of $159.00 per night (plus tax). Deadline for CAPHLD group rate: September 25

Parking: Self-parking: $16, overnight; Day use self-parking (less than 8 hours): $10
Travel Awards
The CAPHLD Program Committee is pleased to announce the availability of four travel awards based on financial need to allow individuals representing their public health laboratory to attend the meeting.
If you would be representing your laboratory and cannot attend due to County travel or funding restrictions, send an email to Donna Ferguson, citing your funding limitations including a brief description of why you will need support. Four awards are available, but applications must be made promptly. Please reply to fergusond@co.monterey.ca.us no later than September 9, 2023.
The award is intended to defray actual registration, transportation, meal and lodging expenses. Reimbursement will be based on actual expenses following the guidelines in the attached CAPHLD travel policy. Meals will not be reimbursed for CAPHLD sponsored meals.

Registration: $ 0 (waived)
Lodging: 3 nights @ $159 = $477 plus tax
Transportation: $300
Meals: 3 days @ $59/day = $177 (Dinner @ $34/Incidentals @ $5) (Orange County)

Immediately following the CAPHLD Business Meeting Description: This special session will address PHL workforce challenges the state is currently facing and is likely to face in the future. We will be addressing immediate needs for PHL workforce, as well as discussing long-term gaps likely to affect the state in the near future.
Who should attend: PHL Directors, assistant directors, and supervisors. Administrative staff who carry duties regarding human resources or staffing (this may include Administrative staff in the laboratory and/or in the Public Health Department). |
