Welding, cutting, brazing and other hot work are common, and inherently dangerous, activities on many jobsites. Care must be taken to ensure that work is performed safely. This course introduces common hazards associated with welding, cutting and brazing and ways to prevent injury and damage. Ideal learners are workers who perform welding, cutting and brazing.

This course focuses on the comprehensive Stay at Work/Return to Work (SAW/RTW) process within Montana's workers' compensation system. Attendees will receive an overview of evidence-based recommendations and the industry’s best practices for developing and managing effective SAW/RTW programs. Key concepts will include employer policies and cost containment, injured workers perspectives, medical provider involvement, communications for planning SAW/RTW. Participants will leave with practical tools and strategies to implement or improve SAW/RTW programs

Ergonomics training addresses the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and solutions to reduce the risk of injury with a focus on manual material handling and back injury prevention.

The session also examines the evolving policy landscape, with a focus on the 2025 Montana legislative change that formally includes Physical Therapists in the definition of “treating physician.” This shift enables direct access to PTs within the Montana workers’ compensation system—an advancement with significant implications for timely care, system efficiency, and worker well-being. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how this policy shift streamlines processes, enhances compliance, and supports a healthier, more resilient workforce.

From recognizing cardiac arrest symptoms to mastering CPR techniques and confidently operating automated external defibrillators (AEDs), you’ll gain a comprehensive toolkit that can save lives.

This class meets OSHA requirements for 8 hours of annual HAZWOPER refresher training and targets workers cleaning up hazardous waste sites, handling hazardous waste, and responding to emergency releases of hazardous substances. Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, safety hazards, air monitoring, medical surveillance, site control, decontamination, and respiratory protection equipment among other topics.

**This is for those who have completed the 40-hour or 24-hour HAZWOPER training.**

MSHA requires all miners to attend an Annual Refresher Training every 12 month to keep their mining status up to date. We will cover mandatory health and safety standards, transportation controls and communication systems, fire warning and firefighting, ground control, working in areas of highwalls/water hazards/pits/spoil banks, illumination and night work, first aid, electrical safety, self-rescue, respiratory devices, transportation, and safe handling of explosives.

The course will reflect OSHA trenching & excavation standards, industry best practices, and resources for additional trenching & excavation safety assistance. The program will provide information to employers and employees who need to know about hazard while working in or around excavations or trenches.

The purpose of this class is to serve as an overview regarding the Montana Safety Culture Act (MSCA). The presentation will include safety committees, self-inspections, and incident reporting and investigations. From this individuals shall walk away with an understanding of how to successfully meet the requirements of the MSCA.

This presentation focuses on suicide within our culture with specific attention towards Montana. The presentation covers national and Montana data, demographics of a suicidal person, warning signs, risk assessment, training on how to intervene with a suicidal person, evidence-based practices, and resources available. Learning objectives for this presentation include: 1) Participants will be able to identify at least three warning signs of suicide, 2) Participants will know what to say to a high-risk person, and 3) Participants will be able to identify at least one crisis resource in the state.

Extensive study of the causes of workplace accidents shows that human behavior is the biggest root cause of accidents. An approach that focuses on this behavioral cause is vital to future prevention strategies and activities. How often do we assume that employees will have safe behaviors because they were “trained”? Often, this assumption fails to consider many of the factors that influence and reinforce learning and behaviors. BBS addresses these factors. It is closely linked to company culture and values and is an excellent tool to improve safety performance in the workplace.

Respirable crystalline silica hazards, including those related to artificial stone - This training addresses the hazards and controls for workers exposed to respirable crystalline silica (including those who fabricate and install artificial stone/engineered stone products) in general and construction industries. Training materials should address the health hazard of accelerated silicosis, engineering controls to eliminate exposures, and PPE where exposures cannot be eliminated.

Learn about the State agency that enforces discrimination laws and the administrative process that discrimination cases go through in Montana. Also, garner a basic understanding of the federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination and retaliation and pick up some tips to avoiding and dealing with these issues in the workplace.

This class will cover both the OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks. Topics discussed will include training requirements, pre trips, safe operation, and policies for powered industrial trucks in the workplace. 

This presentation will cover the basics of electricity, how electricity affects the body should contact occur, equipment and awareness, clearance from overhead powerlines, and what to do should a contact occur.

This session will provide a brief overview of the drug history, trafficking and use trends, drug and alcohol use in the workplace, overdoses, naloxone programs, and Montana regulations related to use and manufacturing.

This class will discuss best practices related to working in and around sewage lagoons. Topics discussed will include policies associated with lagoon work, training topics for lagoon work, and PPE usage in and around sewage lagoons.

Chemical Inhalation and Absorption Hazards. This training addresses chemical inhalation and absorption hazards in the workplace, including health effects, exposure control measures through engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment

This training addresses the identification, control, and protection of workers exposed to hazardous noise in construction, maritime, or general industry.

When a worker is injured, the workers’ compensation process begins immediately—and how you respond can significantly impact both the claim’s outcome and the employee’s safe return to work.
