SUNY Upstate Critical Access Emergency Care Outreach Program
AFTERNOON SESSION CANCELLED!
The SUNY Upstate Critical Access Emergency Care Outreach Program is a multidisciplinary, hands-on educational initiative designed to strengthen emergency care delivery in rural and critical access settings. This program brings together EMS professionals, emergency physicians, and advanced practice providers for immersive, team-based training focused on high-acuity, low-frequency clinical scenarios.
Through a combination of focused didactics, case-based learning, procedural skills labs, and simulation, participants develop practical expertise in trauma management, point-of-care ultrasound, toxicology, airway management, and interfacility coordination. Emphasis is placed on real-world decision-making, communication across the EMS–ED continuum and delivering high-quality care in resource-limited environments.
By training prehospital and hospital-based providers together, the program promotes shared mental models, improved handoffs, and safer patient care. This regional outreach initiative reflects SUNY Upstate’s commitment to advancing emergency care excellence and supporting frontline clinicians serving rural and underserved communities.
