Thursday Apr 27, 2023 @  08:00:AM  —  05:00:PM MST

Part 1: This class will provide a foundational understanding of the basics of building science, helping you to become more expert in your knowledge of how buildings work "as a system." When finished, you will not only think differently about how to design, build, and inspect homes… but also about your own home! This class will also provide a user-friendly look at the key elements of the IECC, with short detours into the IRC, so attendees will leave feeling much more confident designing, building, and inspecting to the code's requirements.

Part 2: The Department of Energy recently funded a study of residential construction throughout Arizona to evaluate if Arizona Builders are complying with IECC requirements. And, if there are failures, which are costing homebuyers the most. Failures were found in most of the 22 jurisdictions where energy code compliance levels were observed. This workshop explains the results of the study, as well as introduces new energy code training that is being developed to help Building Officials, Builders and Trades Professionals learn how to achieve code compliance every time for those costly failures, as well as why compliance is important for the families who are buying and living in the homes.
