Call for Presentation Proposals

The Iowa Reading Research Center is currently accepting applications for workshop presentations for the 2024 Iowa Science of Reading Summit. The summit will gather approximately 700 educators from across Iowa and surrounding states to expand their knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and the science of reading.

Guidelines for Presenters

  • Each presenter with an accepted workshop presentation proposal must register for the summit for their presentation to be included in the schedule.
  • If accepted, presenters must pay the discounted registration fee ($150).
  • All presenters must disclose any conflicts of interest, financial or non-financial.
  • Presenters may not distribute promotional materials during their presentation, nor may they project logos or promotional content for any commercial entity in which they have a vested or financial interest. However, presenters with a booth in the exhibit hall may utilize their final presentation slide to inform attendees of their booth number and location.
  • All workshops must be presented live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
  • A PowerPoint template will be provided and must be utilized by all presenters at the summit.
  • Final versions of presentations must be uploaded through the presenter’s portal no later than July 5, 2024.

  Workshop Parameters

  • All workshops will consist of 60 minutes of presentation time followed by 10 minutes of collaboration time between attendees.
  • This summit emphasizes the practical application of evidence-based instructional routines, activities, and approaches. Every presentation must center around concrete takeaways that attendees can apply immediately in their school environment.
  • The social and emotional health and well-being of students are of utmost concern to educators. Where applicable, we would ask that each presenter dedicate time to address the social and emotional impacts on students, educators, and families as they relate to the presented topic.

The deadline to submit a proposal is March 1, 2024. You will receive a response from the Iowa Reading Research Center no later than March 15, 2024, about whether your presentation has been selected for the summit.
