Safety Summit:

Strengthening Commitment to Workplace Safety

Join M3 for an interactive training designed to strengthen leadership competencies within the manufacturing and construction industries. The training is comprised of three focus areas: culture, leadership and awareness. Learn how to improve your leadership effectiveness while developing skills to improve employee morale, productivity, and worker performance.

Creating a Culture of Safety

Paul Klein, CSP, CIH, Senior Risk Manager, M3 Insurance

Safety culture is a phrase that is routinely tossed around in the manufacturing, distribution, and food/ag industries in concert with ‘safety is our #1 priority’. Creating a culture of safety isn’t accomplished by accident. Building a strong culture of safety requires a concentrated commitment on the part of leadership. Session will share insights and best practices for intentionally fostering a work environment that embraces safety as a core value.

DOT 101

Robert Tenhagen, CSP, Senior Risk Manager, M3 Insurance

This presentation is designed to help companies with commercial vehicles understand the basics of what is required to comply with DOT rules. This simplified approach to DOT will help anyone with a pick-up and trailer to a semi understand the requirements that they must follow.

Claims Hot Topics and Best Practices

Eric Brown, AIC, Senior Lead Claim Advisor, M3 Insurance

This session will review the basics of workers’ compensation, key terminology, expectation setting & communication, incident investigation, injury management, the importance of creating medical provider relationships, experience modification factors and how good risk management programs control losses and ultimately save you money in the long run.

You will receive a high-level overview of the Workers’ Compensation claims process and tangible tips to help employers better manage their workers’ compensation claims to reduce overall costs to the organization.

Disaster Preparedness and Incident Response

Chris Halverson, Director of Rapid Response & Recovery, M3 Insurance

"Unexpected” is out of your control, but “unprepared” is a choice. This session will provide insight and tangible takeaways to inform how your organization prepares and responds to business disruption.

Crisis can strike any organization at any time – but only those who have a proven plan in place can come out the other side of an incident quickly, with tangible action steps and even increased good will in the community. Learn best practices for disaster preparedness, testing, and disaster response within your organization. M3’s Rapid Response and Recovery Unit has decades of experience assisting clients in crisis incident response. In this session, Chris Halverson will highlight the critical pillars of an effective corporate response to a crisis.

Active Shooter: Lessons Learned/Day-to-Day Awareness

Ted Hayes, MSE, CSP, Senior Risk Manager, M3 Insurance

Even with all the violent incidents occurring in today’s world, your chances of being involved in an active shooter situation are slim; unfortunately, armed intruders and active shooter situations are occurring with greater frequency every year. Statistics indicate that a little more than 60% of active shooter situations are over within five (5) minutes – the shooter leaves the area, the shooter takes their own life (about 40%), or law enforcement/a prepared citizen neutralizes the situation. Knowing exactly what to do during those few minutes may mean the difference between life and death for you, a coworker, and many others in your organization. This program will address controls that can be implemented immediately to reduce your exposure to an active shooter crisis.

Defining Success

Mike Schultz, Senior Risk Manager, M3 Insurance

A strong culture of safety can significantly contribute to organizational success. But what defines success? What is your organization’s definition? How do you define your own personal success? Can these be re-defined? We will have detailed discussions regarding the importance of defining success and its role in the cultivation of a culture of safety.
