Camp Widow® is a unique and incredible experience created by Soaring Spirits International that provides both practical tools and relevant resources for widowed persons rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of the death of a spouse or partner. Built for those who are widowed, by those who are widowed, the Camp Widow event provides understanding, community, and hope. This one day Camp Widow event will be held on September 20, 2025 at Moraine Valley Community College.
The most important thing that Camp Widow provides to the widowed people who attend is an in-person community of others who are making their way through widowhood one day at a time. Campers come to meet other widowed people face-to-face, and to experience the camaraderie that this event creates.
You might imagine these gatherings are morose, but you will find that the truth is quite the contrary. Among peers, lifted up by understanding, and validated in the uniqueness of every person’s grief recovery…the mood at Camp Widow is hopeful, positive, and uplifting. Camp Widow is a life changing experience for widowed people; we’d love to share this hope-filled day with you, or someone you love!
Soaring Spirits holds 4-5 Camp Widow one day events each year in the US. Offering a community of understanding and support, Camp Widow is an inclusive, secular event focused on hope and healing through the grieving process.
Your conference fee for Camp Widow® will include the following:
*Registration Notice: We will be unable to offer refunds for registrations to any Camp Widow events. We appreciate your understanding, and ask that you consider this policy before completing your registration.
*Hotel Notice: We will no longer be having a host hotel for our Camp Widow events. Please make all your hotel and transportation arrangements.
Campers are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. We have provided a forum within Widowed Village for anyone who would like to roomshare during the event. This forum can be found on at widowedvillage.org, and please join Widowed Village (it's free!) if you're not already a member.
Please note: ADA compliant service animals and certified therapy dogs may be on site throughout this event. No other animals will be permitted.

Honoring Love and Rebuilding Life
Honoring Love and Rebuilding Life

When you lose an important person in your life, your life feels completely shattered. You feel so lost in an unforeseen future. However, because the love you shared, you know and almost force yourself to get up and move onward. But what to do and who am I now? We discuss how we started to put our pieces together and create our new stories. How we started with choosing to love ourselves? We started with removing our lives of bad habits, adding therapy, healthy food choices, travel, exercise and building community. Often the struggle through grief is being ready and open. Often is the unknowing need of inspiration and perspective is all we need. We pushed ourselves and often forced ourselves to find what works, and now we are creating balance. Most importantly, as we were creating change in our lives our children’s lives have pivoted as well. At present, we find our selves open to moving forward in new relationships while always honoring our loss and grief without guilt. SPEAKERS: Maria Marmolejo & Crystal Jimenez |
