This four-part workshop series, Nurturing the Nurturers, is designed to address burnout, secondary trauma, and chronic stress among Michigan's birthworkers. Each session will equip participants with tools to enhance resilience, practice self-compassion, and build supportive networks. Delivered live in an interactive format, this series will emphasize actionable strategies and peer collaboration. You can attend all sessions or specific ones that you are interested in.

Workshop 1: Recognizing Burnout and Practicing Self-Compassion

This workshop is designed to help participants understand the signs and impacts of burnout, particularly in caregiving professions, and to develop self-compassion as a tool for resilience. Participants will explore the physical, emotional, and mental toll of burnout and identify early warning signs to mitigate its effects. The session emphasizes the importance of prioritizing self-care and fostering inner kindness to enhance personal well-being and professional sustainability.

Activities:

  • Burnout Awareness Exercises: Participants will assess their current stress levels and identify personal and professional triggers of burnout.
  • Guided Meditation: A professionally led session will encourage relaxation and provide participants with tools to manage stress effectively.
  • Reflective Letter-Writing: Participants will write compassionate letters to themselves, fostering a practice of self-support during challenging times.

The virtual session is free to attend and CE has been applied for.
