TWO DAY CLASS. H.O.T. CLASS SCBA/PPE REQUIRED. Alaska fire ground class is focused primarily on our rural departments with limited water, equipment, and of course manning, this class is broken up in two days. Day one consists of a half day lecture on Alaska building construction, fire behavior, tools-nozzles and size up. The second half of day one and all day two is hands-on, with an outcome of making our fire grounds safer and more efficient.

PPE REQUIRED. This comprehensive training course is designed to equip firefighters with essential s, kills in ladder bails, hose slides, and rope rappels. Participants will

learn and practice techniques to safely and efficiently exit elevated structures

using ladders, hoses, and ropes, crucial for emergency situations where rapid

evacuation is necessary. This course is ideal for firefighters, rescue personnel,

and emergency responders seeking to enhance their versatility in emergency

exits. Both novice and experienced individuals will benefit from the hands-on

training.

First responders are the pillars of any disaster response, but their ability to focus on saving lives and providing critical assistance during emergencies often depends on one essential factor: the well-being of their own families. This session will highlight the importance of ensuring that first responders' families are fully prepared and ready for disasters, allowing responders to perform their duties with peace of mind.

Attendees will explore the psychological and logistical challenges first responders face when they are unsure about the safety of their loved ones. We will discuss practical steps to help first responders, and their families create disaster preparedness plans that address both personal and professional needs. Topics will include creating emergency communication plans, preparing children and elderly family members, securing important documents, and maintaining a family support network.

Participants will hear real-life stories and case studies on first responders who have experienced the challenges of unprepared families during crises. Additionally, expert insights will be provided on how to foster a culture of preparedness within first responder communities to ensure everyone—from the responder to their loved ones—is ready for any disaster.

This class is designed to familiarize firefighters with some of the unique

hazards that will be encountered in the event of an aircraft crash in or near their jurisdiction. Students will learn tactics and strategies necessary to operate safely and effectively for both, on and off airport aircraft crashes. The training will include how best to interface with an airport fire department. The class will consist of a half day of classroom lecture and another half day of hands on training on the airfield with ARFF equipment facilitated by the ARFF personnel on duty as air carrier operations permit. There will be time built in for a question and answer period. Upon completion of the class, students will be much more prepared for success.

***This Class Meets the New EMS Requirements for the State*** The Traffic Incident Management program is designed to enhance responder safety on roadway incidents using a planned and coordinated multi-disciplinary process to detect, respond to, and clear traffic incidents so that traffic flow may be restored as safely and quickly as possible. Topics covered include documented close calls and case studies, use of appropriate PPE, advanced warning, and correct blocking procedures of apparatus.

An overview and introduction of the three main types of trauma and how someone is exposed to them. Will include signs/symptoms, healthy coping mechanisms and intervention methods. Instructor: Derek Cottle

This interactive yoga class is designed specifically for firefighters and EMTs. Focusing on movement and mindfulness, the session will help you build physical resilience, manage stress and stay mentally sharp on and off the job.
