Course Description:

The ancient practice of mindfulness is more important than ever in our busy and loud world. And, learning to focus attention on the present moment can be especially powerful for people who live with brain injury and those who support them.


In this workshop, we will learn what mindfulness is, the essential elements of mindfulness practice and what science says about how mindfulness can ease and address the symptoms most common to brain injury. We will practice thinking and physical techniques and learn how our senses can increase our awareness of the present moment. We’ll explore how mindfulness can help us cope with stress, reduce anxiety and increase our ability to focus our attention on the task at hand. We will also learn how to incorporate mindfulness into daily life.


Learning Objectives:

  • Define mindfulness and its essential characteristics
  • Learn how the benefits of mindfulness directly line up with some of the most common symptoms of brain injury
  • Experience several simple mindfulness techniques you can use every day
  • Learn how mindfulness can benefit people who live with brain injury and those who support them
  • Find out how to easily incorporate mindfulness into your daily life
