Latiné Youth SAVE Webinar (2/3/26)

THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

The Context:

In Fall 2025, the Youth SAVE team had the opportunity to evaluate the ways we serve Latiné communities by conducting outreach to community partners who identify as Latino, Latina, Latiné, Latinx, and/or Hispanic and/or Spanish-speaking. This project was led by Dr. Antonia Alvarez, Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at PSU, who is the lead researcher and evaluator of Youth SAVE programs. We engaged in this research thanks to funding from the Oregon Health Authority.

This research project included facilitating a Latiné Youth SAVE training, engaging in focus groups to explore how Youth SAVE can better serve Latiné communities, and participating in conversations about the transcreation of the Youth SAVE safety plan into Spanish.

Webinar Purpose:

This free virtual webinar is open to the public and will provide information about the project's process, outcomes, and recommendations. The webinar will be recorded and made available to those who cannot attend.

When:

  • Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 3:00-4:30 pm

Participants who engaged in the Latiné Youth SAVE research project shared:

  • There is a "lack of access to resources and services for non-English speaking folks and Farmworkers/migrant workers. Families are in fear of deportation or familial harm."
  • "I've never had tools before. I taught myself. Having new tools, I can be much more help. It feels good to have these and apply it, even with parents. This has been a really good learning experience these last two days."
  • "It was beautiful to be in a room with folks that look like me. Thank you."
  • “We are not alone. We are in this together. En la LUCHA."
  • "I definitely learned a lot. Most of what was discussed was new to me, being that I work with the younger students and haven't dealt with this conversation in the work setting. Thank you! I can now apply these strategies to not only students but my own children."
  • "Just thankful to be here and in a space of people who reflect parts of me!"
  • "There is a sense of loneliness in breaking cycles, and we should be proud of ourselves."
