?Effective coaching is based on mastery of best practices in instruction and assessment. This course will delve into The Art & Science of Teaching (Marzano) as a foundation and validation of instructional expertise. Participants will also utilize Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a strategic approach to bolster any/every lesson for greater student access and authentic engagement. Please be advised that in addition to the two days in the summer, there will be an asynchronous online Canvas course component with assignments to be completed flexibly through the school year, in order to earn the 3 credits.

Understanding the Role Poverity Plays in Education: This learning simulation provides participants with an opportunity to experience some of the complex challenges individuals and families living in poverty may face. Through a structured simulation, participants will explore how limited resources, systemic barriers, and time pressures impact decision-making and daily life. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to support all students, with a specific emphasis in this learning lab on supporting students who may be experiencing poverty or economic hardship.
