Program Summary:
Periodontal decision-making isn’t always straightforward. This course focuses on navigating clinical gray areas and developing the judgment needed to determine when to treat, monitor, or refer.
Are We Actually Maintaining? Even experienced hygienists can encounter challenges when determining what true periodontal maintenance should look like. We will explore how periodontal maintenance differs from a routine prophylaxis and how care should reflect the patient’s periodontal history, current status, and ongoing disease management. The goal is to ensure periodontal maintenance is more than simply “just a cleaning.”
Participants will work through common, challenging periodontal findings and learn to evaluate probing depths, clinical attachment levels, bleeding, recession, furcation involvement, radiographic findings, and changes over time.
