The two hour training course is a safety program designed to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.1153 respirable crystalline silica training. 

The Construction Silica Standard took effect June 23, 2016 you must be in compliance by September 23, 2017.  There is a misconception that contractors do not have to comply with this standard until September 2017.  This is not true!!  During an OSHA inspection, you will need to prove that your company is working towards compliance.  This means you are developing or have a policy and training in place.  Do not wait until September to get into compliance.  There is also a misconception that “This does not affect me.”  This affects everyone to include, steel erectors, drywallers, electricians, etc.  This effect everyone in the construction industry.

We can help.  MSC Safety Solutions is now offering Silica Awareness training.  This is a two-hour course that covers:

  • Health Hazards and Controls
  • Introduction to the dust extraction and water feed tools
  • Policy requirements
  • Respirator requirements in the Silica Standard
  • Options for compliance
  • Contents of the standard
