On March 5th Washington State’s Governor declared a public health emergency about the current Covid-19 virus and requested voluntary cooperation to limit social events of greater than ten people. This together with the public health concerns and guidance voiced by the Washington State Department of Health and many other organizations lead us to believe the cancellation of the Northwest Rural Health Conference scheduled for March is the most responsible action we can take for the welfare of the rural health communities in our state.
Our core planning team has looked at all of the options and met several times to ensure the best course of action with DOH, HHS, the Governor’s State of Emergency recommendations. We will be making every effort to mitigate the impacts of the March cancellation and believe the goodwill of Washingtonians and attendees from our region at this time will come through. Emily our conference manager will move forward with canceling all registrations and provide refunds for those that have paid their conference registration fees. If you booked your own hotel room, please contact the Davenport Grand hotel at 800-918-9344 or go through your email confirmation you received from the Davenport to cancel your room. If a room was being provided to you via scholarship there is nothing further you need to do, cancellation will be taken care of for you.
Please understand we are deeply saddened as this decision did not come lightly. We are grateful for your support and look forward to seeing you at our 2021 conference.
Thank you again,
NW Rural Health Committee
