    2018 Next Generation Water Summit
    2018 Next Generation Water Summit
    Sun, April 29, 2018 — Tue, May 01, 2018
    THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

The 2nd annual Next Generation Water Summit will be held on April 29-May 1, 2018. The Summit focuses on water conservation and water reuse in the arid Southwest. It brings together builders, designers, architects and water professionals to share best practices and brainstorm new ones through charrettes.

Our featured keynote speaker will be Jonathan Overpeck. Overpeck’s visionary work has been at the forefront of the heated climate change public debates and identifying the risks to managing water resources, providing valuable insights into past climate variability and change in the Southwest. He will present on the Climate Change forecasted impact to the Colorado River flows.

There are over 40 unique sessions planned with speakers from AZ, CA, CO, NM, TX, NV and UT. On the morning of May 1, we will hold two charrettes, where we will have multiple stakeholders dive into a challenging topic. These charrettes will have very limited seating, so sign up today!

This optional activity, hosted by Far Flung Adventures, occurs on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

The Rio Chama in Northern New Mexico is an absolutely stunning river that is more in the style of a Utah river-scape than most things found in New Mexico. This guided trip is fully outfitted and will encounter longer, steeper rapids and multi-hued sandstone cliffs up to 1000' high. Emerging from the canyon wilderness area, we observe a quiet zone as we pass the Christ in the Desert Monastery. Now begins the lively whitewater run (Class II-III) into the headwaters of the upper Abiquiu Reservoir. Taking out at mid-afternoon enables us to return you to your vehicles around 3:00pm.

Tying into the Next Generation Water Summit, each raft will have experts on natural history, geology, water rights and watershed resource management.

The cost is $125/person, and lunch is provided.
