Chronic Traumatization: Attachment, Complex Post Traumatic Stress , Dissociative Disorders and Personality Disorders Part Two

In part two we will explore working with Borderline and Narcissistic clients in greater detail. This course will review and build on aspects of structural dissociation and personality theory learned in part one.

This course is designed to help therapists, medical professionals, and chaplains understand aspects of basic attachment theory, dissociation, and in more extreme cases the etiology and treatment of clients with a dissociative personality structure. While all are welcome to attend the course will be tailored for licensed psychotherapists and other medical professionals with a basic understanding of trauma.

Course Objectives Part Two

  • Gain a deeper understanding of what makes clients with Borderline and Narcissistic traits or full disorders so challenging in psychotherapy.
  • Review basics of parts of self (PoS), personality theory, early childhood attachment, and dissociation as the core of fully developed personality disorders.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of symptoms and assessment of borderline personality.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of symptoms and assessment of narcissistic personality.
  • Understand how relational and family systems may create barriers for effective trauma therapy.
  • Discuss self of the therapist issues that will arise and effective self care and boundaries with clients.
