HOT PERSONNEL ISSUES
Instructor:
Joshua Arnold, NCCE
Director of Operations
National Institute for Jail Operations (NIJO)
Perhaps one of the lessor discussed issues administrations face is not inmate-related challenges, but rather staffing and personnel matters. In a recent 2020 report, 86% of detention facilities documented they are dealing with significant staffing shortages. These difficult circumstances extend far beyond custody, care and control. NIJO Director of Operations Josh Arnold will present and train on current personnel issues. Discussion will include proactive measures and priority areas to focus on as administrators in these key topics. Attendees will be able to analyze their own agency, related issues, and get feedback from other attendees and the instructor with time spent addressing specific personnel concerns of attendees. As part of the quarterly meeting, participants will have the opportunity for roundtable discussion on other critical issues they are facing, along with updates on events, available AJAC training, jail-related news, and legal-issues update.
This training session is approved for both NCCS and NCCE levels of NIJO Professional Certification and will be worth 3 credit hours. (For more information about getting certified, visit: www.jailtraining.org/certification.)
