Camp Widow® is a unique and incredible experience created by Soaring Spirits International that provides both practical tools and relevant resources for widowed persons rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of the death of a spouse or partner. Built for those who are widowed, by those who are widowed, the Camp Widow event provides understanding, community, and hope. This Camp Widow event will be held from Friday, July 15 - Sunday, July 17 in downtown San Diego.

The most important thing that Camp Widow provides to the widowed people who attend is an in-person community of others who are making their way through widowhood one day at a time. Campers come from around the world to meet other widowed men and women face-to-face, and to experience the camaraderie that this event creates.

You might imagine these gatherings are morose, but you will find that the truth is quite the contrary. Among peers, lifted up by understanding, and validated in the uniqueness of every person’s grief recovery…the mood at Camp Widow is hopeful, positive, and uplifting. Camp Widow is a life changing experience for widowed men and women; we’d love to share this hope-filled weekend with you, or someone you love!

Soaring Spirits holds three Camp Widow weekend events and three, one-day Camp Widow Pop-Up events each year. Offering a community of understanding and support, Camp Widow is an inclusive, secular event focused on hope and healing through the grieving process. 

Your conference fee for Camp Widow^® will include the following:

Registration fee does NOT cover the cost of travel or hotel stay. Rooms are available at the host hotel at a discounted rate starting at $260/night, and more information will be included once the room block is opened.

*Cancelation Policy: Due to the unprecedented challenges associated with planning in-person events safely during this time, we will be unable to offer refunds for registrations to Camp Widow events. We will be happy to transfer your registration to another US-based event within one year from your registration date, or offer a donation receipt if you choose not to attend. We appreciate your understanding, and ask that you consider this new and unfortunately necessary policy before completing your registration.

*COVID-19 MANAGEMENT POLICY:

In order to create a safe physical space that supports the safe emotional space for which Camp Widow is known, we will be asking each camper, regardless of vaccination status, to bring a COVID-19 at-home test (If you are unable to find an at-home testing kit in your area, we will have a limited number of tests available for sale onsite) which you will self-administer just before entering the registration area for Camp Widow. The first step of the registration process will be showing your self-administered negative test to our health check team. They will provide you with a wristband confirming that you’ve checked in and are ready to proceed with the registration process.

We highly recommend that in addition to testing onsite, each camper considers a self test prior to leaving for camp to ensure that you will have a negative test result when testing at camp. Please be prepared with a contingency plan should you test positive for COVID-19. Each camper will be responsible for themselves should they need to quarantine or be unable to attend Camp Widow due to a positive test result.

Documentary Filming: The story of Camp Widow® and the powerful connections made over our three day program will be the subject of a documentary filmed and crafted by the award winning team of Laura Green and Anna Moot-Levin of Stray Pony Productions. Filming will be done onsite during the Camp Widow program for wide shot scenes and background footage. Participation in the filming of individual conversations or personal interviews will be done only with the express permission of the people being filmed. Soaring Spirits is excited about the opportunity to share our resources with a wider audience through this documentary, but we hold maintaining the safe space of the campers onsite at each event as our highest value.
