The Alabama Jail Administrators’ Council (AJAC) provides nationally certified training on key topics specific to Alabama jails and the administrators who oversee the operations of facilities. Additionally, AJAC provides an open forum to share and discuss critical management issues.

W. Blake Strickland started in the EMS field in 1987 in Jacksonville, AL, and later began working in a non-sworn position with the Jacksonville State University Police Department. In 1990, he officially started his law enforcement career as a police officer; ultimately, working for both municipal and state agencies, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. Mr. Strickland currently serves as a state investigator for an Alabama medical regulatory board.


Mr. Strickland has served in assignments to include, but not limited to: Patrol, administration, investigations, training, internal affairs, tactical unit, evidence technician, and public information officer. He has been retained as an expert witness in cases involving use-of-force, policy, personnel-issues, and weapon-related issues. Recently, Mr. Strickland has had the privilege of providing training to faith-based organizations on developing and implementing security and medical ministries.


This training session is approved for both NCCS and NCCE levels of NIJO Professional Certification and will be worth 3 credit hours. (For more information about getting certified, visit:  www.jailtraining.org/certification.)
