You can register for an academy session. You must also meet the qualification and prerequisite requirements specific to each course.
Click on the "Important Documents" and "PPE Requirements" tabs on the upper left-hand side of this page for forms that need to be filled out and important information regarding the S-130 Firefighter Training (Field Exercise) course.
The s-130 Firefighter Training (Field Exercise) is a hands-on experience that equips you with essential entry-level firefighting skills. During this day-long field instruction, you'll learn about safety orientation, firefighter preparedness, tools and equipment, firing devices, water use, suppression, securing the control line, use of maps and hazardous materials, and safe operations. This training is a valuable opportunity to enhance your firefighting capabilities.
The S-130 Field Exercise is required to complete S-130 Firefighter Training (Blended). Additionally, the online components of the coursework must be completed before attending the field exercise.
The NWCG courses, including S-190 Intro to Wildland Fire Behavior and L-180 Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service, are available entirely online and required for Firefighter Type 2 certification. Rest assured, these self-directed courses are supported by the Wildland Fire Learning Portal (WFLP) at https://wildlandfirelearningportal.net/, ensuring a smooth and guided learning experience. Upon completion, you will receive certificates.
The S-130 Firefighter Training (Blended) is a hybrid course. You must complete the online component to receive a Memo of Completion. This memo is a prerequisite that you must provide to the Fire Academy before you can participate in the S-130 Field Exercise. Please ensure you complete this step to avoid any delays in your training.
Remember your PPE. In addition, the Fire Academy Course does NOT carry clothing for inclement weather, such as coats, sweatshirts, etc., so please come prepared.
