Description
Stakeholder Convening: Child Care for Military Families, a Collaborative Project of State Military Spouse and Family Liaisons from Alabama and Washington, brings together stakeholders in the child care space serving military families at the local, state, and national levels to learn from each other, share resources, and develop actionable solutions. Each calendar quarter will center around a theme with monthly topics. Every meeting will include a brief panel discussion and conversation among attendees.
Learning Objectives
The June Convening will focus on population data and child care need analysis. Stakeholders can utilize existing Department of Defense demographic data and US Census data to determine how many military children live in their state and local communities? Using this population data, a child care need estimate can be determined to help local communities quantify the number of child care slots that are needed to support military families. We will hear from child care advocates and the US Census staff. Our breakout discussions will be an opportunity to brainstorm additional datasets that can be used to determine local need, who should be included, and next steps at the local level.
