Overview

As the third and final gathering of this year-long program, Seminar III will focus on strengthening the strategic thinking and strategic action essential to effective leadership in higher education. Over three days, participants will deepen their understanding of how leaders navigate complex institutional environments, make informed choices, and guide meaningful progress.

Seminar Focus

This seminar centers on developing the capacity to think and act strategically across all levels of the institution. Participants will:

• Identify approaches to strategic planning at multiple levels of the institution
• Review institutional finances, budget models, and sources of revenue and expenses
• Understand the strategic imperative to build and maintain a university community that fully reflects our society and world
• Evaluate strategies for assessing competing priorities and managing time
• Consider the range of formal and informal opportunities for higher education leadership
