Rehab to Fitness is a course for trainers and clinicians to learn how to progress clients and patients from rehabilitation into a functional fitness program. In this class Dr. Teter will take complex physiological concepts and make them easily applicable. From the basics of fitness to advanced programming techniques, participants will leave this course with a specific and practical blueprint that they can begin applying immediately.
The information included in this class has helped both general fitness clients and high level athletes achieve their peak physical potential and remain injury free. If you are truly interested in integrating fitness into your current systems, this class is for you.
Attendees will leave this course with a comprehensive understanding of the true definition of fitness, utilizing exercise as medicine and how to integrate fitness programming into musculoskeletal care. We will discuss the stress response and physiological adaptation, the physiological responses to exercise and the role of fitness in injury management. Next, we will cover the practical principles for managing movement, the joint-by-joint approach to training and regional interdependence and musculoskeletal dysfunction. This course will also teach joint centration, breathing and stabilization mechanisms and will cover developmental kinesiology, evolutionary biology and dynamic systems theory in fitness.
Attendees will walk away with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of functional training, screening and risk stratification and physical preparation and fitness program design. Key concepts in fitness programming and exercise progressions and regressions will be covered along with exercise variable manipulation, biomechanical factors related to exercise, warm-up strategies for active preparation, resistance training strategies for the lower extremity, trunk and spine and energy system development for fitness and sport.
