Each year, GOBHI holds a spring conference that brings together professionals and stakeholders from the behavioral health field across Oregon.

The 2019 GOBHI Spring Conference will take place May 15-17 in Bend, Oregon at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes Convention Center. The three-day event presents valuable opportunities for shared learning and collaboration on a regional level.

A focus of this year’s conference will be rethinking the basics of a behavioral health delivery system.

Keynote speakers Kenneth Minkoff, M.D. and Christie A. Cline, M.D., M.B.A. will deliver a presentation and facilitate hands-on activities on Thursday. The topic: “Integrated Services for People with Co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders: Practical Steps for Implementation in YOUR Program and Community.”

Dr. Minkoff, a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, is recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on integrated treatment of individuals with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders — or “dual diagnosis” — and on the development of connected systems of care for such individuals.

Attendees will also have a wide range of workshops to choose from on Wednesday and Friday. These sessions include topics such as ethics, housing, early childhood, older adults, criminal justice, and much more. Continuing education units will be available at the conference.

Past speakers at the GOBHI Spring Conference include:

• Gabor Mate, M.D.

• The Honorable Patrick J. Kennedy – The Kennedy Forum

• Bruce Perry, M.D., Ph.D. – Child Trauma Academy
