International Summer Camp: American Language, Culture, and History

July 19-August 8, 2024

Join us for an immersion learning experience designed to introduce students to American language, history, and culture. This experiential learning program will be based out of the peaceful Saint Vincent College campus in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania. The academic component will involve 12-15 hours/week and participants will also take part in weekend field trips, local excursions, campus experiences, and active learning sessions. Participants will connect what they are reading and studying in the classroom with excursions and activities designed to make the coursework come alive.

Program Objectives

• Students will experience and learn about different facets of American culture and history.
• Students will integrate lessons on American history, culture, and the arts into a trip portfolio.
• Students will engage in classes taught in English, to provide opportunities for English reading, writing and speaking.

Program Fees

Program Fee: US$4500

Includes:

·       Coursework

·       All field trips and excursions (transportation, lodging, and entry fees)

·       Room and board (including meals on campus)

Important Information:

·       Participants must be 18 years or older by the beginning of the session

·       Participants must be students at an institution of higher education and must provide verification of their student status during registration

·       This program is not available for academic credits.

·       While students do not need to demonstrate English language proficiency, all activities will be conducted in English and at east an intermediate level of English is strongly advised.
