High Performance Ventilation Workshop
|
$ 100.00 | ||||||
Research shows that more often than not, Health Care providers have trouble manually ventilating patients. Recent studies also show that patients that are better ventilated in cardiac arrest have a 3 times higher survival rate and 4 times higher neurological outcome rates. In this eye-opening hands-on workshop, Bob shows participants how to ventilate patients by BVM, via Mask, ET tube, and supraglottic airways using state of the art ventilation feedback devices that measures volumes, and ventilatory rates. ?You will gain valuable insight, skills and techniques to improve your ventilation ability using this valuable feedback and coaching system. This lab features the tools and techniques to introduce to you the concept of high-performance ventilation (HPV) and to allow guided feedback driven practice to develop muscle memory and continual competence in this life saving skill. |

It is a fundamental skill, getting a “set of vital signs”. We do it without thought. But are you taking them correctly? It has been said by some that…” What difference does it make what I got as long as they “look” ok? And “you can’t get good vitals in the back of the ambulance anyway, Right?” In this very revealing session, Bob breaks down the techniques and shows you the pitfalls and traps that many providers fall into. Bob also reviews newly published data showing that maybe we should not be in a hurry to leave the scene with unstable medical patients! Come here the details and through examples, video, clinical cases and discussion you will understand the conditions when vital signs are critical, and ways to hone your own assessment skills! |

**Participants should bring their own stethoscope to fully participate in the lab*** The stethoscope was invented in 1816. It is the symbol of the medical profession. It’s used as a patient assessment tool for blood pressure, breath sounds, heart tones and more. But newer technologies such as NIBP and Capnography are now being used. Heart tones are rarely taught or appreciated. So, is the stethoscope still relevant? Recent introduction of digital stethoscopes come with the ability to record and produce waveforms called phonocardiography. Leave it to Stethoscopy instructor Bob Page to be all over it. Come and learn and experience all about this new technology! |

Portable Respiratory Monitoring for BLS: Useful tools?
Portable Respiratory Monitoring for BLS: Useful tools?
|
No Charge | ||||||
EMS providers are primarily taught subjective assessment techniques for patients with respiratory problems. This includes basic observation of signs and symptoms that can often be confusing and misleading. Then providers are asked to interview patients for OPQRST-SAMPLE when they are having a hard enough time just breathing. Add to the fact that most protocols are written having therapy based on chief complaints and sometimes without sound clinical judgement. Studies have suggested this approach can be dangerous. Technological advancements have produced respiratory monitors that are much smaller in size and a fraction of the cost of our high-end monitor/defibrillator with Pulse Ox and Capnography. In this presentation, Bob introduces the audience to the concepts of the big three of respiratory monitoring: Pulse oximetry, capnography, and Co-Oximetry (CO monitoring), describing their use as objective patient assessment tools, and discusses through case reviews, the impact they can have on clinical decision making for all levels of providers. |

Obstetric and newborn emergencies are rare, high-risk calls, and among the most stressful situations an EMS provider may face. The Handtevy Newborn Resuscitation & Obstetrics Course (NROC) is designed to give prehospital professionals the knowledge and confidence to manage pregnancy-related emergencies, emergency delivery, and newborn resuscitation in the field. The pre-course requirement is completed online in about two hours. This classroom session provides an additional two-hour classroom session with cases, delivery practice, and hands-on newborn resuscitation skills. Together, the online and classroom sessions provide four hours of CAPCE-approved continuing education. Built for EMTs, paramedics, and prehospital clinicians, this course focuses on the most critical elements of maternal and newborn stabilization. You’ll learn practical strategies for assessment, delivery preparation, neonatal ventilation and resuscitation, medication support, and team readiness that can be put into practice immediately. This training is concise, accessible, highly relevant, and delivers real skills that reduce anxiety and improve performance when every second matters. Through engaging instruction and interactive case-based learning, you will: -Recognize and manage high-risk pregnancy complications and obstetric emergencies. -Prepare for and manage emergency delivery, including common complications. -Perform effective newborn resuscitation, including airway support and ventilation. -Apply neonatal and maternal care principles in the prehospital environment. -Strengthen teamwork, communication, and readiness in high-stress situations. By the end of the course, you’ll not only know what to do, but you’ll have the confidence to do it under pressure. |
