This session provides an overview of the nonprofit budget process, and basic steps to develop, implement, and monitor the annual budget. We will also share short-term budget strategies nonprofits can use to help build long-term financial sustainability. Whether involved in financial management, decision-making, or planning, this presentation will provide attendees with the necessary foundation to navigate the budget season.

 

Who Should Attend: Individuals who are new to managing or providing financial services for nonprofit organizations or would like a refresher on nonprofit budgeting are encouraged to attend.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Introduce and define different types of budgets.
  2. Provide an overview of the nonprofit budget process.
  3. Identify budget strategies that help nonprofits build financial sustainability.
  4. Share the importance of using the budget as a management tool.

 

Participants will earn 1.0 CPE credit in Finance.

 

To qualify for CPE credit, attendees must respond to a minimum of three out of four poll questions presented during the program. Certificates of completion will be issued via email to eligible participants within 3-4 business days following the event, using the address provided at registration.

Cancellation Policy:

If you are unable to attend the workshop, please notify us by email at least 48 hours prior to the class. Cancellations should be emailed to nonprofitconnection@unitedwayhouston.org and must include the student's name, organization, phone number, workshop name and workshop date. We do not accept cancellations by phone. A refund less a $10 processing fee can be issued if the deadline has been met. 


Registrants who do not show up for the workshop and have not notified us by email within 48 hours prior to class, will forfeit their entire registration fee.


Your Part-Time Controller, LLC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org

Meet the Presenter 

Gavin Wilson

Gavin is an Associate in Your Part-Time Controller, LLC’s Houston Market. Gavin has over twenty years of wide-ranging accounting experience working primarily with non-profit organizations, in a variety of roles. Gavin’s areas of expertise include finance and accounting, management information systems, business consulting, and general management. He has served as a board treasurer for a number of nonprofit organizations, including his current role as the Treasurer of the American Genre Film Archive. Gavin holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Managerial Studies.
